Getting Started
First-time setup path for users who want to get running quickly without skipping critical checks.
Step-by-step setup
- Power device and connect to "OpenHaldex-S3" Wi-Fi network.
- Open browser to http://192.168.4.1 and confirm UI loads with live telemetry.
- Open UI and go to Setup.
- Select Haldex generation and save settings.
- If the car is Gen 5, use MQB decoded signals rather than PQ when selecting speed, throttle, and RPM inputs.
- Assign and validate three required inputs: speed, throttle, and RPM.
- Go to Diagnostics and confirm telemetry updates in real time.
- Go to Home, leave controller off, and confirm basic communication stability.
- Enable conservative mode and perform initial road validation.
Gen 5 / MQB note
- Gen 5 support uses MQB chassis decoding, not the older PQ signal catalog.
- Select the correct generation before mapping inputs so the signal dropdown resolves the right decoder set.
- CAN View and the setup signal picker only show decoded signals from frames that are currently present and recent on the bus.
Safe baseline recommendations
- Start with conservative map or low lock request profiles.
- Keep disengage thresholds active while validating behavior.
- On Gen 5 cars, verify that speed, throttle, and RPM move correctly from MQB decoded signals before any tuning.
- Avoid aggressive maps until telemetry and diagnostics are confirmed coherent.
- Use logs and CAN view captures when behavior does not match expectation.
